ANDREA BARRA · MY BACKGROUND
Clinical experience.
Curiosity about the person.
I’m an osteopath and yoga teacher. The relationship between body, movement and awareness has shaped my learning and my work for many years.
The roots: hands-on practice
My training progressed through Eastern manual therapy approaches, including Thai and Ayurvedic massage, followed by sports massage and remedial therapy, culminating in a Master’s in Osteopathy. This experience shaped my attention to touch, assessment and the choice of treatment.
Osteopathy: assessing and choosing
A Master’s in Osteopathy brought a clinical structure to this background. Listening to your history, assessing movement and agreeing understandable goals underpin my work. The findings of the assessment and your preferences guide the choice of techniques.
Yoga, breath and attention
Studying yoga in India with different traditional schools deepened my interest in breathing and the lived experience of the body. In somatic practice, attention goes to what you feel: how you move, where you hold tension and what changes when you slow down.
From body awareness to self-regulation
My interest in nervous system regulation now gives these studies a shared direction. Breath and movement become tools for exploration, while my osteopathic training informs attention to individual needs. This is also where my online course project begins.
